The Elephant Bar in Overland Park, KS.

Awesome restaurant, great atmosphere, all non-smoking.
But the main thing is the FOOD. Great food! Very different, flavorful, and interesting. And, not super expensive.

Look for a place that's not too loud, so you can actually hear each other talk - and not too dark, so you can check each other out! Also, some place not too expensive, in case it doesn't work out, you won't be bummed when the credit card bill arrives in the mail. But not too cheap or it'll be guaranteed not to work out! Choose a restaurant that has a wide variety of items on the menu because you don't know what your date will like.

Pick an Italian restaurant because they can be romantic. I don't know where you live or how much you can afford, but you can go to Carrabas which is a chain that's reasonably priced. Or the Olive Garden. Go some place that affords atmosphere, and typically Italian or even French restaurants do that.

Even though it's expensive, The Melting Pot (on the Plaza) is romantic!!

It depends what kind of food you are looking for, too. Any aphrodisiac stand-by (like Red Lobster) is good, too.

How much are you willing to put into this first date?? Plaza III is good, Houlihan's; anything on the Country Club Plaza or Towne Center Plaza is a plus!!

You can always try Garrozzo's or EBT as well.

Enjoy!!

If you have a BD's Mongolian Barbeque around that would be a good place to go. You create your own dishes from a bunch of different meats, vegetable, and spices, you than take it to a chef who will cook it for you. It's unique, fun, a way to break the ice, and has a nice atmosphere. If you foresee that your date might be a picky eater, avoid

Not fast food, and not too pricey. Middle of the road, but be creative. Not too dimly lit, & not 5 zillian people either. Good luck, dress casual & have fun.

Try an Applebees, Chili's, Zio's, or Bennigan's. For something pricier, I don't know.
