We have a large turkey (with turkey gravy in a bowl so it's optional), a smoked honey ham, string beans (i drain the juice out and cook them in stewed tomatos), sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, corn, peas, asparagus, crab meat, brussel sprouts, cranberries, collard greens, macaroni & cheese, rolls, pecan pie, pumpkin pie, seafood salad, corn bread, stuffing, salad, baked beans, potato salad, brown sugar carrots, shrimp, egg salad, coleslaw, and more.
If you are wandering why so much food? Well, I have 5 kids so my household has 7 people in it. We have my parents and my husbands parents over, my husbands sister and her hubby and their 4 kids, my very close aunt & uncle, and my sister and her daugher. That's 21 people! We had to purchase a few years back one of those big picnic tables.. the adults eat at the big dinner table and the kids eat at the picnic table we push them together to make one huge table.

I like to have turkey, brussel sprouts, green beans, wild rice with mushrooms, chestnut stuffing, yams, cranberry sauce made from fresh cranberries, and pumpkin pie and whipped cream.
This year will mark the fifth country I've celebrated Thanksgiving in, though, and I've found that the best thing about Thanksgiving is being with people you love and being thankful for what you have. But it always helps to have one really typically Thanksgiving dish, even if it's with a twist. One year in the Middle East I made pomegranate sauce instead of cranberry sauce and it was amazing!

That's a lot of food! But I do have to say that my family is much bigger than yours. My parents have 10 kids. 6 of us are married and 1 always brings his girlfriend. There are 21 grandkids (I am having #22 in January). And there's usually friends that also come for dinner. That's 39 with just immediate family!! Anyway, so on to the food. We always have a turkey and either a roast or ham (my dad doesn't eat chicken or turkey), mashed potatoes, gravy, green bean casserole, corn, stuffing (usually 2-3 different kinds), a few different salads, cranberry stuff, rolls, noodles, broccoli rice casserole, and about 4 or 5 different deserts. It's usually different each year because it's always a carry-in. I know there's more food but I can't think right now.

Great question... * for you. We don't celebrate thanksgiving, but I've had similar situations with other family gatherings. Usually I'll have the veggie side dishes like salads, veggies, hummus etc. But I'll also make some thing additional like veggie roast, pasta, faux "meat" roast or veggie kebabs.

We had a strange Thanksgiving dinner last year and may have the same this year. It was simple, but my family and I loved it. My daughter makes what we call "Goop". For one batch (usually doubles or triples it, depending on the number of people), she cooks one pound of hamburger with a small amount of chopped onion, and then, adds a pound bag of cooked and drained, wide noodles, a can each of Cream of Chicken, Cream of Mushroom, and Cream of Celery soup, and one soup can of milk. She heats it thoroughly, and it's absolutely delicious. Along with the "Goop", we had green peas, corn, cranberry sauce, and deviled eggs. It was soooo good. We were so full that we ate our dessert, which was chocolate chip cookies and brownies, later in the day. I would have liked minced pie, but I'm the only one in my family who likes it.

I'm Canadian so we already celebrated in October. There were only 4 of us so we kept things pretty simple but it was yummy! We had Turkey with traditional bread and sage stuffing, my special cream cheese and sour cream mashed potatoes, gravy with a splash of sherry, brussels sprouts with a dijon mustard sauce, brown sugar glazed baby carrots and homemade cranberry sauce. For dessert, pumpkin cheesecake.

Turkey or Cornish hens, homemade stuffing, garlic mashed potatoes, and green bean casserole. And a green salad with a homemade dressing. It's just the two of us, so that's plenty of food!
