It does exist. It is called floating medium and it is made by Plaid. I get mine at walmart for about $3. I use it to mix with my acrylics to make them flow easier. It is paint without pigment.

It goes by the name of Varathane, or Clear Coat, or any of a number of products that are compatable with Acrylics & Oils.

For artistic work they are called Gel mediums.

most brands like winsor and newton, liquitex, talens, etc sell them in different presentations like matt, gloss, for textures, etc.

you can add them to dilute your acrylics or to mix them with powder pigment.
