Hey, about 5 hours ago, I bought the Canon Powershot SD600. It seems you're just like me, don't know jack sh*t about cameras yet wants a good one, haha =P (No pun intended) It has THE best reviews in it's class. It has:
2.5" Inch Screen
6 Megapixels (Perfect for starters)
2"H x 3.5"L x 1"W (That's pretty cute)
And alot of basic yet good features
Comes with:
The Camera
16Mb SD Card (I recommend buying a bigger SanDisk 1Gb SD Card for about $30 Online, you'll be able to get around 275 pics on one)
Wrist Strap
Installation CD
AV Out Cables (For viewing pics on your TV)
Battery
Battery Charger
Manuals
Although it doesn't come in cute different colors like the Casio Exilims, they are sure to perform better. It has an exact carbon-copy which is the Canon Powershot SD630, it basically looks better and has a 3" biggger screen for about $50 more. I'd rather save the $50 because that 3" inch screen is gonna drain the battery faster.
It's on sale at Amazon for $213.99 out the door. That's where I got mine from considering that everywhere else is $249.99+Tax
I also recommend buying a case and screen protector just like I did.
^_^ Hope This Helps !!!

I agree with Spyder...
The Canon SD 600 is small, solidly built, has great photo quality...and is cute.
The SD 630 (is exactly the same as the 600, but has a larger LCD and no viewfinder). It recently won a European award for 'Best Ultra Compact'....so thats tells you something.
If you don't want the large screen and you prefer to have an optical viewfinder as well, then the SD 600 would be perfect.
I bought the SD 700 IS...because of it's image stabilizer, build quality and compactness...(and because its slightly more cute than the others...lol)
P.S. don't forget to get a fast SD card such as the Sandisk Ultra II or Extreme III...for speedy performance.

I ought to assert, which you would be relatively extremely joyful with an Olympus Mju 720SW. it relatively is the final all around compact i've got ever considered - this is water resistant as much as 3 metres, an shockproof as much as a million.5 metres, sand and dustproof. Is preset with maximum of settings (relatively available) for specific circumstances - snow, coastline, night, fireworks, candlelight, portrait, in the back of glass.... you call it. no longer basically that, it has an remarkable anti-shake function, which captures the main magnificent %., even nonetheless you need to be shifting at 100mph in a single course and your undertaking is shifting two times that velocity in the different! it relatively is compact and small, yet with sturdy weight via it relatively is steel physique, and available around the £200 mark. All that, and it relatively is 7.a million megapixels. the photos it produces are so sharp, sparkling and real looking, it relatively is magnificent! you need to heavily evaluate this fantastic gem of a digicam.

Try to hold the small, cute camera first. It might be so small and so cute that the controls are fumbly.
My hands are rather large, and the small buttons and controls (especially the zoom buttons) are just plain hard for me to deal with.
Also, the smaller the camera, the harder it is to hold steady to get a sharp image.
Good luck!

I use Sony DSC T7. It is really good. The images are really sharp. It is really slim and very light. It got a optical 3x zoom. And maximum is 5 MP. 5MP is good enough to take pictures.

So far the smallest digital camera I have ever seen is Sony Cybershot U2. It is only 2MP but it is size of your thumb. You can use it as a keychain.
