Not necessarily. He may just be letting you know how much he values your friendship and wants nothing for you but happiness throughout your life. But if you are that close then you should be able to ask him and get the answer honestly.

What are you afraid of? Have you been deeply hurt by someone else? If so, please don't make this guy suffer for someone else's mistakes. It seems like you have a serious issue with trust.
