To get in shape for cheerleading, you need to start RUNNING! Oh, I know, GROAN. You can even roll your eyes if you want to, but seriously, you need to. I hated running, but I wanted to get on the squad, and you need to be able to run at least a mile with no struggles. SO, start by running around the block or your neighborhood. Then get going like 1/2 mile, mile, mile and 1/2...so on.

Start lifting weights. Unless you are the lightest person on the team, you are going to be lifting people and supporting your own weight during stunts. Lift a 2 or 3 pound weight and do 10 - 15 reps every other day.

You need to strengthen your core (back, abs...), so sit ups and crunches are good. Start with 20 every other day and work your way up...
Eat fruits and veggies, eat in good proportions, drink lots of water, and good luck for cheerleading!

Eat lots of fruits and veggies. Make sure you eat 5-6 small meals per day. Drink 64 oz of water per day. Do cardio at least 3 times per week for at least 30 min per day. Lift weights 3 times per week (every other day). Dont buy processed food. Cook all your own meals with little oil and salt. Good luck!

swiming is my favorite however if you dont have access to a pool you can always start out walking and then move up to stair climbing, as in real stairs or some piece of gym equipment
