So we had two cats, but recently, one of them ran away. We just adopted another cat to keep our older one company, and Im not sure how to introduce them to eachother. So far, ive been switching them in and out of rooms, but im sick of sneaking in and out and trying to make sure that they dont get out. Is there a quicker, more effective way?

Try sitting next to each other with the cats on your lap and a handful of cat biscuits each. If they are comfortable and getting fuss they are less likely to freak out at each other. Also get a slightly damp cloth, rub it on one cat, then rub it on the other one, if you transfer their smells to each other, they will accept each other sooner. Please don't give up if they hate each other, it took me 9 months for my two toms to barely tolerate each other!

i have a 2 and half year old cat and just rescued a 7mth old cat. for the first 2 days i kept them separate then let them in the same room together then shut them in the kitchen for the night. there were no fights and after a few days they are sleeping on my bed together now. feeding them at the same time helps also because they are hungry they will put up with each other but the keep the bowls quite far apart.. i have been told boy and girl cats are easier in this situation but mine are both female and doing okay now. just keep an eye on them in case they get a bit rough they will scuffle to let each other know who is boss but that should be as bad as it gets

A friend of mine had a screen door put on one of her bedrooms and put one cat in that room.

just let the doors stay open and let the new cat fight his/her way in. No introductions needed they'll get use to eachother.
