My next door neighbor has a pug and it barks constantly. However, a friend of mine had a pug which only barked once in awhile. I would tend to say no they don't bark a lot but it would depend on the area around the dog such as are there other dogs that bark a lot, heavy traffic, heavy people & animal traffic (as in people walking their pets past your property), etc.

I had one neighbor (doesn't live here anymore), who had 2 pugs. I can only assume that his pugs barked a lot or he just couldn't deal with them barking period, so he had them both de-barked. I thought it was rather inhumane myself.

generally, no, they don't, but there are exceptions to every rule... they tend to grunt more than bark
