i really like this guy. hes been chasing me for ages and ages.even when i was with my ex he was chasing me. he only texts me at weekends to see if im out in town to meet up.i have met up with him a few times and we have only kissed. ive been apart from my ex now for 8 months.i was with him for 6 years. why wont this guy ask me out properly?he always compliments me and is a real gent when we are together.is he really interested in me?

You need to talk to him and find out what's up. Maybe he doesn't want your "ex" to know he's interested in you. He should be asking you out now that you're available.
He sounds like he's interested, but "texting" you to hookup when you're "out in town" seems a bit odd to me. He should be calling you and asking you out for a date. Like I said, you really need to "talk" to him to get your answer.
