Go take a block (5 or 6) of lessons from a local PGA pro. You can usually find one that will do group lessons. You will learn the basics of grip, setup, and swing. This will get you started with good habits. Don't just run out there and start playing, you might develop some bad habits that will be hard to get rid of.

I started playing golf in July and found it very useful to take a few lessons from a pro. This helped because they were able to tell me what i was doing wrong and was able to correct things. If you try to learn by yourself you may get some bad habits and once you have them its hard to change your game. Good luck!

the biggest things you have to remember are keep your head down after your swing (you may wanna look up to watch how far ur ball goes but dont). follow through. its hard to understand the concept without physical demonstration but swing through the ball instead of down. play with other people at the golf course n talk to them most people will give you pointers. lessons always help too.

Go see your local PGA Professional. Don't get tips here there are too many that only think they know what they are doing because they shoot a decent score. Rarely the case. Your best bet when starting is ALWAYS get at least one lesson from a PGA Professional.

Keep trying. Never give up. Don't get discouraged. And enjoy. Let every shot be a new shot and not be affected by the past shots or worried about the future shots. Find friends to go down to range with you to encourage one another.

Get some lessons It is easier to learn things the right way than to try and fix all the things that are wrong latter

DONT give up.
it took me 1 year to learn the right swing.
After that stage, it gets fun.
