In summertime the water from the hose can still be warm when it first comes out - but what if it is cold when you start ? I don't want to traumatize my dog .

if its cool out, you would be better not doing it. unless maybe the water is hot but im not sure. you would be better off doing it in the bathtub.

most dogs are hardy creatures and don't mind a bit of cold water at all. You do say 'summertime' in your question, so I would say go ahead and wash your dog, especially if you make it fun & give them a good run around after. You will be able to tell if he/she is in discomfort pretty soon as he/she will sit quietly and shiver, then you can simply bring the dog indoors and put a towel round it! I have 2 dogs who will launch themselves into the sea even in winter - they love it and suffer no harm.

Put him in the bathtub. You know how cold it can be when you're wet even on a warm day, plus the hose water is freezing.

Get a childrens pool and add warm water from the house to it if you do not want to do it in the bath tub. Dogs do not need to bathed that much any ways, unless some unforeseen circumsatnces they should be only done twice a year.

what kind of dog do you have? if its a big ol' dog, like a german shepperd or a newfunland, then you can wash it outside because they can handle the cold easier, just have a warm towel for them inside :P if its a small dog, inside with warm water is best. dry two towels and use one for drying htem off, thene the other to amke sure they are dry and for snuggling. you dont want them ot get a cold!

Go outside dog-lover and wet yourself down with the hose. If it is warm enough for you, your dog might accept it. I treat my dog very well and she is bathed indoors, towels and heated home included!
