When I first read the beginning of your question I thought it was sad and set out to help...
HOWEVER, after reading the part about the ulcerated (open wound) tumor, I was horribly taken aback... this animal needs immediate care from a vet. Anything less would be abuse. I realize that she is probably the world to you and you are scared that your lack of money will result in sore undesirable consequences (such as euthanasia). I entirely understand this... but your poor dog must be terribly uncomfortable and chances are that she will NOT be able to get better on her own. She is an older girl, and deserves to have it at least looked at. I talk to your dad or mom about this, and if they still refuse to do anything call your vet for help.
As a last result, and you are not afraid of giving the dog up, you can call the humane society. They can possibly get your dog the care she needs.
please whatever you do DO NOT ignore this problem though.

Well first thing I would do would be to take her to the vet and get a diagnosis and opinion as to what should be done to help your dog. Once you have done that, if it is something that can be medically corrected and you have an estimate on the cost, I would then go to my family members and see how much each can contribute to her medical bills, if that doesn't work, I would ask your vet if they have Care Credit, which is a credit card type financing, which you could pay off over time, if that does not work for you, I would then try to take out a loan or borrow some money from a friend if you can. If all else fails and you run out of options and you have anything that is worth selling I would sell it. Good luck to you and your dog.

If it is the family dog, the family should step up and take the dog to the vet. Talk to your mom, dad, aunt, uncle, anyone who might help you get this dog treated. If left untreated, that could be bad news. Just shame them if you have to, let them know if they were left with an open wound tumor you wouldn't help them (kind of like they are doing with the dog). Sorry - that is a bad situation but you have to take some sort of action. If not, call the vet and explain the situation and perhaps they would be kind enough to help whether you can pay or not. It might be a long shot, but it is worth a try!!!

If she has an open tumor on her neck, then for your health and hers, you need to complete her medical care. Go to your selected Veternarian and tell him/her that you are financially limited. Ask if you could set up a small payment plan. Most Pet Doctors will be so happy to help you. They may even give you a cheap care plan. Tell the Doctor , how you feel and I know they will help. Do it as soon as you can. Good Luck !!

First of all, I don't care to hear the blame game about your dad and his problems in not taking care of the dog. Good job in doing it yourself, but I honestly don't care. I'm just here to help you out with your problem in your dog's health. Ask another question about your lousy-dog-skilled father. But about helping your dog.
Go to the vet for a simple check up, no treatment. See if there is something you could do inexpensively to help her out some.
Also watch her closely. Is she in pain? If she is and you can't afford and treatment, perhaps you need to let her go. No more suffering. Put the dog to sleep. It's a sad thing, but much worse would be to let the dog die painfully.
If you think he will help, politely bring up what you have done for the dog and ask your father to pay for the medical expenses.
Good luck, hope this helped.

Sometimes the vet may be able to help put her down if it is too bad. You can call them ahead of time and tell them that your money situation is limited and they may just let you pay a little at a time. It is worth calling to find out at least though. Good luck and sorry to hear about the dog. Best of luck.

You apparently don't love your dog as much as you write in here. You are "stuck" with the dog? Sounds more like you are in a dilemma of ethics. If you can't afford to do any surgery or therapy to better help your dog, it's best to put your dog asleep for the both of you.

From what you say, you are a minor and still living at home? If I am correct, the parents should pay for the dog's surgery. You can offer to pay them back from your allowance or if you have a part time job, you can pay them back from your check each pay day. They shouldn't let the poor dog suffer.

You can call the SPCA in your local community and ask for help, they can also give you great advice in what is better for her, i am against euthanasia but if she is gonna suffer for the rest of the time she got left is better to let her sleep and become a little doggie angel.
