Matthew 28:19-20
19Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

20Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

with all the different versions that call themselves bibles I'm sure you could find it some were.. But NO, God's word says to go into all the world and teach the gospel. Read the book of Acts(in the Bible) for a good example of some one (Paul) spreading the gospel through persecuted and eventually beheaded(and was happy to do it) How are your friends going to know Jesus if you don't tell them?

It says spread the Gospel. After that, it's up to the individual as to whether they want to convert or not.

I'm sick of "missionaries" trying to convert, say, Catholics to Protestantism, or people going to countries that heard of Christianity a long time ago.

I had a huge fight with a guy who went on a mission trip to Spain. Spain? Like, the country that ran the Spanish Inquisition? They used to *kill* people who wouldn't convert! What's the point of sending people to spread the Gospel to people who could just go buy a Bible at the biblioteca? Good Lord, the bookstore has "bible" in the name!

The Bible says, "heal the sick, bind up the wounded, feed the poor." It doesn't say, tell people that if they don't convert, they're going to hell. Missionaries should only go to places that need help, not, say, countries in Western Europe who are perfectly capable of helping themselves. If you lead a horse to "living water" and it doesn't drink...leave the horse alone! Go help somebody instead of shoving tracts at people who don't want to hear your message!

This emphasis on conversion is a waste of time, money, and resources that could be better spent doing the true work of God. I can't endorse it. When everyone is fed, when everyone is healthy, when everyone is free from the rule of warlords, when there is no genocide, no suicide bombing, no epidemics of preventable diseases...then you can go about converting people. There's too much work to be done to focus on converting people when they can barely stay alive. Jesus never said to focus on their afterlives. He fed people, he healed them, he stood up for the weak and sick. And he NEVER threatened them with eternity in hell!

Follow Jesus's example, and you'll be a good person. Follow "Christianity" as it has developed in the last 2000 years...and see where it gets you. It won't make you like Jesus!

No it does not say that. On the contrary, the Bible says that Christians should spread the Gospel to everyone.

No.

James 5:19 - Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him;

James 5:20 - Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.

Matthew 28:18-20
And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. [19] "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, [20] teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

No, just the opposite. The bible says to go out and spread the good news.... what is the good news you ask??? That Jesus is Lord and died for your sins and 3 days later rose again....

It says' to give your testamony, as what brought you to Christ, and the awesome things that he has done for you. As god wants you to have a life of abundance. You should always be prepared to offer a stranger who does not believe, your story of being saved, you should go out and preach the word of God, but these are gifts of the Holy Spirit, everyone has been given different ones'. These gifts are given freely and should be used to glorify the word of God!!!

Well, it would depend on how you want to view; don't cast your pearls before swine. In easier to understand words, don't try to tell sacred truths to those who really don't care and would turn around and assult or insult you. Sounds like many on here that do nothing but insult and try to tear good people down. Matthew 7:6 "Do not give what is holy to dogs, neither throw your pearls before swine, that they may never trample them under their feet and turn around and rip you open."
