has anyone stayed at the coconut village in phuket thailand , i am thinking about going there

I stayed there about 15 years ago, which means it must be getting old now. The bungalows were nice, around a pool, but as a result security was not that good, so make sure you keep the door locked.

the hotel is about 5 minutes walk from the beach, away from the bars.

Patong beach is fairly developed and noisy, very little of it is typically thai. If you want to experience something quieter and less developed, try Krabi, Phi-Phi, Koh Samet or Koh Chang

coconut village is a 3 stars resort hotel in Potong beach. It hotel is not facing the beach, its about 5 mins walk.they is lot of shops,pub and restaurant within walking distance.

WHat is your budget and how many days are you staying? THere are tons of hotels in Phuket. Maybe what can be helpful is going to asiarooms.com to check out their rates and read the reviews of the hotels by people who have actually been to the hotel.
