Compare the amount of tread left on the tire to how much is on a new tire. Then you have to decide how much tread is OK with you. No one can advise you because if you are in an accident then we would feel real bad. On my pickup truck if 1/3 or less of new amount is left - I always get a new tire for winter because I want to be safe.

Be careful buying used tires. The tread and sidewall conditions are not the only things to consider. Learn to read the code on the tire to determine the age of the tire. Tires do have a shelf life. I have concluded about 6-7 years.

I have bought used tires in the past, but not anymore. Tires wear so well these days, that a tire with good tread may have 40,000 miles on it, and a tire from a junkyard likely came off of a wrecked car & may have damage that can't be noticed by a visual inspection.
I feel safer riding on new "off-brand" tires than any used ones.
