I have an older version of windows xp, and for some reasone any time i try to upgrade to sp1 or whatever that pack is that contains the 2.0 drivers it says that your windows is not authentic? which is weird because i bought xp at its release. is there anyways around this? can i download a third party 2.0 driver or anything? i hate uploading my music onto my ipod it takes days with the 1.1

First, make sure your computer has USB 2.0 ports. If not, no update will fix it since it's a physical limitation of your hardware. If this is the case you'll need an add-in PCI adapter for 2.0.

If it's just a Windows authentication issue then you may have to call up Microsoft to get it straightened out or you can try downloading the complete Service Pack outside of Windows Update from here and see if that works:

You can go on the Microsoft site. There is a phone number you can call. If it is an authentic issue, they will give you a key to use, and walk you through loading the system files necessary .

Call microsoft and talk to them. give them your product key and they'll give you a new key to enter on the validation page.
