You "can" start as early as 6 months, but for her safety, and longevity, wait for another 6 months (where she's been in heat at least twice.. but I prefer to not breed a dog until she is 2 years old.

She will come in heat the first time at about 6 months, but that is NOT the time to breed her, if you care about her. You should not breed her until she is 18 mo-2yr.

Just because a dog CAN be bred at 6 months, by NO means does that imply that it SHOULD be! Give the poor girl sometime to mature and grow up... it will be healthier for her and healthier for the pups.

At least a year, they need to be fully developed. BREEDING IS NOT GOOD! 12,500 pets are euthanized EVERY hour because of breeders who don't know a thing about breeding! If you are in it to make money, don't expect to. You have to care for them for 8 weeks, give them their shots, deworm them, and there could be many unforeseen emergencies.

Dogs and cats should be at LEAST a year old before being bred. Since you don't seem to know anything about dog breeding, please have your terrier spayed and leave the breeding to the professionals.
