Hi there,
I just was approved yesterday for a Sears Mastercard and I understand
that I can apply it to many different things, not only Sears. My question
is, since the card has not yet arrived in the mail, how do I access my
new card number and use the card today, in this case to pay for the
movies? The card number is not on the new receipt. I will call their
800 number if need be, but thought I would ask here first, thanks!!

eferrell01 is mistaken. Activation is not a chance to 'back out' it is a means to verify the account holder is the person that received the card.
Kate: Did you read the FAQ you linked to? It does not address the question asked.
Lisa: Ever if you had the account #, I doubt the movie theater or rental place would accept the number without the card.

The card has to be activated to be used. If you run it through a card reader the transaction will not be approved.
Activation is the issuing company's way of giving you a chance of backing out of having the card. You can probably activate it online if you need it now.

I know this sounds glib, but if you need credit to go to the movies, I don't think you are financially sound enough to have a credit card........why pay 18+% in interest just to go to the movies?
