If you have an infection, you will need to see your doctor and get some antibiotics to clear it up. As for the pain, I find that if I place warm wash cloths on my face it will help relieve the pain. Also you can try nasal rinses (warm H2O with salt) to clear out the nasal passages. Another thing, make sure you drink plenty of water (this helps keep the mucous loose and keeps you hydrated and prevents against constipation caused from the antibiotics. I hope this information helps.

Hope you feel better.

If it's actually an infection you get on antibiotics. It's the best thing you can do. I had one for months and I took over the counter pills and tried everything I could think of. It only got worse over time to the point that I could blow my nose for hours straight and fill hundreds of tissues with bloody florescent stuff. By that point, I went to a doctor and tried 5 or 6 different antibiotics. It had gone too far and I ended up needing sinus surgery (draining).

One of the best things you can do for yourself is use saline to flush your sinuses. It will rinse out any built up mucous, as well as bacteria. Not all sinus infections require anti-biotics. In fact, many don't. We are creating all kinds of strains of resistant bacteria by using antibiotics when they're not really needed. You can buy saline solution at the drug store, or simply mix some salt water up. Use warm water, and sort of sniff it. It's kinds of gross, I'll admit, but you'll thank me for it after! You'll feel better.
