Sauce is a flavourful liquid, usually thickened, that is used to season, flavour, and enhance other foods.. whereas ketchup is a sweet-tart sauce whose main ingredient is tomatoes, flavored with onions, garlic, vinegar, sugar and spices, used primarily as a condiment.
Basically sauce is any liquid but ketchup is tomato sauce..

some people call ketchup sauce. i guess ketchup is a sauce but there are lots of other types of sauce. white sauce, cream sauce, wine and butter sauce, barbecue sauce etc....

Sauce has broader circle made of many many ingredients.There are lot of kinds while ketchup
is also Tomato sauce(80% HEINZ Brand in market sale)This is also a type of sauce while there is no limit of types of sauces in the world

sauce describes any relish in general where as ketchup iis a type fr example-mayonaise,salad cream and barbecue sauce are all kinds of sauces :-D
