If there were such a place, would you rather be around a bunch of sheep or a bunch of brilliant people? I choose the latter and I would hope God would too.

That'd be an odd kinda god you have there. I could see a god accepting skeptics into heaven, people who have truly weighed the issues and come to some conclusion, but I couldn't see how this situation would arrive unless the god is just overly ironic.

I would be entirely surprised to "wake up" in front of the gates of heaven, but I figure, any omniscient god would recognize that atheists did take the logical path, and thus should be rewarded.

Well, they certainly push Pascal's Wager at us all the time. However, I don't think that one can really choose what beliefs one has. I can choose to study something, but I can't choose to be convinced by it.
