how do i tell the guy i like that i wanna go out with him and not be friends without freaking him out?

Chances are that he probably at least has some feelings for you. It is often difficult for guys to remain just friends with a girl, there is at least some attraction. Be honest and tell him how you feel. Look for signs as well, things like is he flirty and that will give you some signals as to whether or not to do anything.

this is kind of a touch and go thing. i would first kind of hint to him the idea of you guys dating to see how he reacts to it. bring it up in a joking way like so and so thinks we are dating cause we hang out or something along those lines. if hes not interested you should be able to tell by his reaction. if he is interested, then you put the idea in his head and i would pay attention to the way he acts towards you over the next few days. if he seems he wants to hang out more or something then i would take that as a clue that hes interested but maybe to scared to say anything about it cause your friends. once he starts to act interested, just playfully say something about you guys going on a date and take it from there. Is he a close friend? If so, just be direct and tell him. I don't think he would be freaked out, assuming he's not taken of course.

ease into it - get to know him first and then maybe suggest going someplace, nothing intimidating like full blown dinner but to a movie or something, tell him u like him, explain that if not its no problem, give him your number and sometime to think about it and youll find out

Tell him you want to get to know him better. Then keep pushing for more information, together time, whatever, until he has eased into a relationship.
