I mean, I believe in a god but not in hell or heaven, just some unknown afterlife with it's own challenges. But if god really loves you and his love is eternal then how could he send you to hell on any basis? If you are a loving parnet, would you send your child to eternal damnation if they killed a person and didn't ask for forgiveness. If there is even one person who can't do it then does that mean they love more then god does?

YES YES YES!! THANK YOU! Someone actually put two and two together and figured this out!

The whole concept of religion is contradictory. My favourite example is where the bible supposively says to love all of his childrem, but then goes on to contradict itself by saying except for gays, except for lesbians, so on and so forth.

People are always all "Oh, God is a loving God who forgives all out sins...BUT WILL SMITE THE SINNERS!!" Contradiction.

Perhaps God has bi-polar disorder.

You made my day.

Hell was created by God soley for the eternal punishment of Satan and the other fallen angels. Hell was never intended for humans.

Satan brought sin, however, and mankind became cursed. We are not necessarily destined for Hell because we have a way out and if we excersise the free will God has given us, and give our lives to Jesus Christ, we can be saved.

If people want to scoff at this then their salvation is their own affair, but it is terribly sad that people are so deceived they think they won't end up in Hell where the smoke of their suffering and torment will rise forever (Revelation 14:11)

Eternity is a long time, and where we spend it depends on our choices whilst we live. For me, I'd rather spend it in heaven and the arms of the Saviour who died for me.

If you were a loving parent, would you force your adult son or daughter to live in your house against their will? That doesn't sound very loving. And God won't force anyone to live in His presence, who has chosen to live apart from God's presence. Therefore there has to be a place where those who have chosen to live apart from God can do so. Since God is the source of all that is good, such a place would necessarily have only that which is evil. God doesn't "send" anyone there. On the contrary, He has given everyone full directions on how to avoid going there. For those who foolishly choose to go there anyway, God as a loving parent has no choice but to sadly allow them to go.

Let me word this as simply as I can: Heaven is the eternal reward for believing in God. Hell is the eternal punishment for not believing in God. Whichever afterlife you end up in has nothing to do with what you did while you were living, but which god you believed in.

i imagine that you may want to re-study that tale. even as the son became residing out on his own dropping his money on sin, the daddy did not go searching for him. in basic terms after the son repented and back to the daddy became he customary. If the son does not have repented, then he would have perished contained in the pig sty. The Heavenly Father is continually searching for his prodigal toddlers, yet except they repent and turn to Him they could't be kept.those who're not residing less than the protection of God are devil's servants. Hell became created for devil and his servants. Sin hardens the heart. finally the heart receives so puzzling that it may not repent and those human beings change into devil's servants continuously. You forgot about God's holiness. Remember the parable Jesus taught.

"The Kingdom of Heaven can be illustrated by the story of a king who prepared a great wedding feast for his son. Many guests were invited, and when the banquet was ready, he sent his servants to notify everyone that it was time to come. But they all refused! So he sent other servants to tell them, `The feast has been prepared, and choice meats have been cooked. Everything is ready. Hurry!' But the guests he had invited ignored them and went about their business, one to his farm, another to his store. Others seized his messengers and treated them shamefully, even killing some of them.
"Then the king became furious. He sent out his army to destroy the murderers and burn their city. And he said to his servants, `The wedding feast is ready, and the guests I invited aren't worthy of the honor. Now go out to the street corners and invite everyone you see.'
"So the servants brought in everyone they could find, good and bad alike, and the banquet hall was filled with guests. But when the king came in to meet the guests, he noticed a man who wasn't wearing the proper clothes for a wedding. `Friend,' he asked, `how is it that you are here without wedding clothes?' And the man had no reply. Then the king said to his aides, `Bind him hand and foot and throw him out into the outer darkness, where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth.' For many are called, but few are chosen."
Matthew 22:2-14

God does not force His love, but provides the holiness necessary. If you refuse His way, he has no choice but to refuse you access to heaven.

If you read the Bible for yourself, you will see that there is no mention of Hell. There are references to Gehenna which was the dump where the garbage burned. There was always a fire there, smoldering. Hell, an underworld, was a concept from classical thought (Hades of the Greeks). As I understand it, The concept is that those who don't make it to Heaven, will be burnt like garbage. No idea of eternal punishment, just the rejects are gotten rid of in an efficient manner.

I was surprised that there is no mention of Hell.

not at all, the very opposite is true. The fear of paying the price for your own sins may be enough to motivate you into a wonderful loving relationship with the Lord. Fear can keep people from making big, costly mistakes in life. When we were children our parents may have warned us that if we ran out into the street, the big fast moving car might hit us and kill us. My cousin was only 5 years old when a car hit him , he was in the middle of the road and the car just couldn't miss him. Love is when parents warn their children, a healthy fear has great love and concern built in.

Fear that keeps you from hurting yourself is a good fear.

Satan believe in God. The issue is, have you believe and trusted that the Lord Jesus Christ died for your sins? The Lord has showed His love toward us because He had to become a man so He could die on the cross. If you reject His payment for your sins then you send yourself to hell. John 3: 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

understanding God is understanding spiritual oxymoron's (two apparently conflicting ideas contained in the same truth) like sowing in order to reap, he who lays down his life will gain it. God live in this tension of oxymoron where He is on the one hand a Loving Father and on the other the Righteous Judge who demands the just penalty for sin, true righteous judgment is always tempered with mercy, when we receive our redemption through Jesus Christ our Savior then we have the right and privilege to access His mercy, however if we do not we only have His judgement to look forward to...

no, God gives us a choice just like life. If you break the law you go to jail. Obey the law and you remain free. Choose God and you will enjoy the riches of Heaven, don't choose God and you endure the torments of hell.
