what can Christians to to break the sterio type that we are only interested in the appearance of perfection and we are all hypocrites. I hear that from a lot of people on this sight who feel that way, and while of course there are people out there claiming to be Christians who are definately hypocrites I hate that it gives us all a bad name.

When you base your religion on how non believers feel about it you might as well not have religion. Stand true to God and God will stand true to you.

unfortunantly, I don't think there is anything we can do, accept not act like that. As people see the there are some christians out there that try not to be hypocrites, the sterio type should die down (in theory at least.) Until then, just be your true christian self, and don't let what others say hurt you. Good luck. <><

Tell them to stop bragging about how great they are and what they have done for God. Didnt Jesus say "let not ur left hand know what ur right hand is doing" or something like that? "Fast in secret"? If they do good things w/o wanting others to acknowledge it, then they are the TRUE Christians. Really, I wont yell at anyone b/c their a Christian...I yell at them if they're a FAKE Christian...

Many claim to be saved and because they are not they give those who are saved a bad name. Look at all the preachers on TV. All thy want is money to support there habbit of rich living. No wonder many think all saved people are like this. Well we aint. I guess there is no real way to break this but keep trying to be Christ like.

I disagree. What the critics of Christianity fail to recognize is that Christians are human and not perfect. The critics of Christianity are simply looking for an excuse to denounce Christianity. It is like bathing the baby and tossing the baby out with the bath water. So, don't fall for their excuse to critisize Christians and, thereby, condemn the whole of Christianity.

Speaking as a former Christian, you're on the right track. Don't talk the talk if you don't walk the walk. My mother was a Christian in the true sense of the word. She would do anything she could to help anyone & would do it without their knowledge if she could. She actually was angry with the pastor for putting her name in the church bulletin for something she did for the church.

Christians would have to come out and admit that they pick and choose what parts of the Bible they follow. Also, stop trying to get government to push your religion for you. If you really think your ideas are good, those ideas shouldn't need government sponsorship.

Also, it would help if Christians didn't say they were pro-life then push against stem-cell research. Or say they are pro-family, then try to dictate what everybody else's family should look like.

There's nothing that we Christians can do but love our enemies. Jesus said that when we follow Him, we will be persecuted because unbelievers persecuted Him first.

"Blessed are you when men hate you, And when they exclude you, And revile you, and cast out your name as evil, For the Son of Man's sake. Rejoice in that day and leap for joy!
For indeed your reward is great in heaven."
Jesus, in Luke 6:23

We will never please an unbeliever with a close mind....

Everyone has an opinion and they are entitled to their opinions, I don't worry about their stereo typing if my heart is pure. It's God opinion about me that I would be worried about not humans' opinions.

I don't like it Either, and its keeping us from Comning Together as a Family on this Earth.
Walking in Holiness is Hard, Hard to Stay there, but the More you Try, Fail and Try Again, you'll Eventually get the Hang of It. No, I ain't got the Hang of it YET, but I am Still Trying, and will Never Give Up.

my suggestion is: stop acting like you're only interested in the appearance of perfection, and stop behaving like hypocrites. and, stop the hate and killing in your cult-god's name. and stop cherry-picking the parts of the bible you follow and enforce, while ignoring most of the rest of it.

if you really want to see a good example of where the selfishness and hatred comes from, read ftreagain's answer, below...
