No, you should treat everyone as you would like to be treated, not as they have treated you. Can you imagine a society that is out to get everyone at every turn that would be horrible. Show that you are a better person, by forgiving them and moving on. Since you have lost trust with this person it is best to just leave them behind. Why it hurts so much is because they have betrayed your trust. They were disrespectful and wrong. I am sure you have heard the phrase forgive and forget, forgive them, but move on. Forgetting will take time and showing them you are a better person by not reacting the way you want but how you should will make both of you better in the future.

It does if your Jewish. That's not a joke. Eye for Eye, Tooth for Tooth, Life for Life. Moses pretty much said its cool. But your hurting yourself. That kind of revenge is gratifying only in the moment. And it lowers you to the level of the person that hurt you. Now you've become just like the person you wanted revenge on. It's hypocritical.
But if someone better than you hurts you, then hey! Get some revenge, RAISE to the occasion. Show them that you're just as good as they are.

As you already know, of course it is not right to also do wrong. You don't want to lower yourself to the level of that person. And as you know it only hurts you. The person that lied and cheated does not care.

At the moment it may feel very good for you to cheat and lie on that person, but it really depends on you as an individual. Myself personally, my morals and beliefs tell me its wrong and only hurts me because I only did it to get back at that person. Which in turn makes me just like that person who hurt me. So its hard to not pay someone back, but in the end its better for me and my character.

More often than not, the answer is no. You should not cheat on them if they cheated on you.
One of the reasons is you do not want to bring yourself down to their level.
An eye for an eye is something that was invented something like 4000yrs. We are post modern humans and we should not subscribe to this.
That being said, I suggest that you confront the person in question before they go further with their cheating and lying.

No. You know in your heart what you have done and will not forgive yourself if you cheat and lie, even in retaliation. The other person may or may not care, but you will have to live with it all your life. It ends up hurting you.

Wrong is wrong, no matter who does it, or for what reason. If you do wrong to someone, then you are just bring yourself down to their level. That is what the old saying "two wrongs don't make a right' means.

No, it's not right. You have to leave the rest of it up to God. It hurts you, because if that is not your character, you're going to stress out about doing the wrong thing when the right thing was clear to you in the first place.

In the end, it really hurts you if you cheat and lie in return.

I've always believed that if someone does something wrong to me and I return the favor, I'm no better than they are -- if anything, I'm worse for stooping to their level.
While whatever they did may hurt, I'm also convinced (and have witnessed it) that karma (ie: what goes around, comes around) will take care of it just fine.
