There are a number of reasons why trees fall in autumn. however, the plainest explanation is that they are preparing for the coming winter. So what is it with winter that trees need to prepare for? During the season, the air is cold, and what comes along it is dry air. Cold air usually doesn't carry much water moisture but the dry air does. this is what the trees are afraid of - to have much of their water absorbed by the dry breeze. As a defense mechanism, all water from a tree is transferred and brought to a place where the dry breeze coudn't reach and affect greatly. The leaves, which are thin and flat, are poor against preserving water and so during the fall, the trees take out the water from the leaves that eventually makes the leaves dry and dead. These dry leaves fall down. and the place where they are formerly attached to is specially waxed with a substance that will prevent the water from drying up or being absorbed.

Leaves fall of a tree for 2 reasons. 1-In winter the trees drop their leaves so then the damage by frost is minimal 2-When the weather is very hot and the plant is at wilting point,a plant may loose some to reserve some water-less evaporation through the leaves,. The only other reason is that the plant is dead or diseased.

The leave contain much water which would freeze and destroy
the cellular structure of the leaves and tree, So in the fall
the tree starts taking up less and less water which causes the
leaves to fall, just like when there is a drought, the leave fall off.

Thats the way God planned it when he made them.

All the important parts of a leaf are drawn back into the tree, cholorphyll, water, etc. and the leaves dry up and die. They are then cast off because they are not necessary in the winter. The tree does this because it goes into a dormant state in the winter, because conditions are not favorable for food production.

Gravity is why they fall.

'cuz you call it fall. so they do.
if they didn't, the leaves would freeze and cause damage to the trees, so they go dormant and drop their leaves untill the weather is more to their liking. kind of like an animal hibernating..
