There is a special tool for this, it's like a regular brake piston compression tool but it also has a disk with two pins which engage in holes on the surface of the piston. What you do is compress it in the normal way until it locks up and then rotate the piston end of the thing. That screws in the piston, what you are doing is actually resetting the hand brake adjustment.

I have my own, similar to the one at the link below, but my friends have borrowed or rented them from parts shops in the past.

Take a look at the size of the rim for the spare tire, go to a junkyard and get some, My 04 gti has the 17 ariettas and the spare was a 16 inch. matter of fact, if you can find a chrysler sebring with steelies its the exact same lug pattern and size you need so long as they are 16's, the offset may be a bit goofy but otherwise. Unless you drive a GLI jetta or a wolfsburg, the brakes should be the minimal size. your lug pattern should be a 5x100?

If it's the front all you really need is a ratchet, sockets, a C-clamp and some brake lube.

You use the C-clamp with the old brake pad to push the piston back into its' bore.

And make sure to lube up all sliding parts and where the pads make contact with the calipers.

i own a repair shop, and if it has rear wheel disc brakes on it the rear calipers turn in on it,if you try to push them in you,ll ruin them, and it does take special tool to do it with ,but you can use a pair of regular pliers to do it with ,if it has drum brakes on the rear its as easy as any other car to do just take your time with it,and you,ll be ok,,good luck i hope this help,s.
