It could be the food. As for Nutro, I have used it and No "sales person" at a pet store talked me into it. I went to buy some & they were out. So, I bought Authority, only sold at PetSmart. My dogs love it, they don't eat as much. Their coats are shiny & they don't shed much. They don't have gas either.

You may want to consider switching your dogs to another brand of food, some foods just don't work well with some dogs. You may want to consider trying something such as Wellness, Merrick, Canidae, Natural Balance, Solid Gold, Natures Recipe or Eukanuba. Just keep in mind when you switch your dog from one food to another you must do it gradually to avoid digestive upset. I would recommend give 2/3 of nutro to 1/3 of the new brand for about 5 days, then I would do 1/2 of nutro to 1/2 of new food for another 5 days, then I would do 2/3 new food to 1/3 nutro for another 4 or 5 days and then feed just the new food. Once again it is extremely important to make a gradual change. Good Luck.

Despite what pet store employees (most of whom barely have a high school education, mind you...so why does everyone listen to them?) will tell you, Nutro is NOT a good quality food. Not at all. It's not the worst, but it's FAR from the best. They push it because they are trained to. How many of those clerks do you know who have an extensive education in animal nutrition? Hint: Ask them to explain the basic Kreb's cycle to you. If they can't, don't listen to another word they say, because they are only regurgitating what they have been told. Nutro has a higher profit margin than the premium foods, which is why the pet store managers like to sell it. (I know this from inside information.)
I see many more medical problems in dogs fed Nutro than in the ones fed TRUE premium diets. It's nothing but a wannabe. They use deceptive (but legal) labelling practices to make it LOOK like a better food than it is.
First....have a fecal test done to rule out intestinal parasites, even if your dogs take monthly heartworm pills. Make sure no one in the household is sneaking them people food/table scraps behind your back. Then (gradually) switch them to a higher-quality food. I suspect that your gas problem will magically resolve.

unutilized proteins will do that to a dog ... people, too. Switching foods to something that their system can efficiently handle is your best ticket. I am not familiar at all with Nutro, so I can neither praise, nor curse it. I will say that mine eat lamb & rice or chicken & rice dry foods. They are the exceed brand that Sam's sells and is made by Purina. We don't have a gas problem around here ... at least not from the pets.

I agree with the Vet. Switch the food to a higher quality one. Nutro not that good because they do not even sell it in Canada. My recommendation is Eukanuba. Expensive but they do not eat as much and poop a lot less. My two sibs eat about a half a cup of food a day each on this and on other brands I can go up to two cups.

they might be allergic to some thing in the food. also just because it is a top brand of dog food that doesn't mean it won't give them bad smelling gas. so i would recommend changing to a different dog food.

Try switching foods. Natural Balance, Wellness, Nature's Variety, Solid Gold, and Blue Buffalo are other premium brands you could try.
Remember to switch slowly or you could end up with serious stomach upset.

even though its high quality you still might want to change their diets a couple times to see what keeps the smells down. also watch them when they are outside to see if they are eating anything else -- like each other's poop or even worse digging up cat poop.

Try feeding them more vegetables. Eating meat and beans and stuff like that messes with dogs' (actually everyone's) digestive system and makes them gassy.
Hope this helps!!!
