Tell your parents to take care of their OWN responsilbities. It is NOT your job to get your brother to go to sleep.

Why in the hell would your parents tell you that is your job?

At 8 years old- he is old enough to get into bed and stay there. He doesn't need to fall asleep- but he can lay quietly - in the dark- until he falls asleep.

All you do is treat him- say if you try to fall asleep- and if you do ill give you a piece of candy- the young ones these days go crazy for candy!!!!Or tell him to read a book- because that always knocks me out cause my eyes get tired from following the words- Hope I helped!

Aww well that sucks, you have to do it,lol
but try something that won't hurt him such as Camille tea, a lavender bathe, or sleepy time tea, melatonin. all natural and will not harm him unless he is allergic in someway.
Good Luck with him...

You don't mention your age. Could it be that both of your parents are gone and he doesn't feel very secure when they aren't there come bedtime. How old are you?
