i may be going out on a limb here but i would guess it has to do with the fact that we're in iraq and lots of people are thinking about that, the fact that US elections are comming up, and i would guess the majority of people on Y!A are americans.

I'll temper the other answers I've seen and NOT attempt to scream that it's because we're the "USA" !!...

But, Yahoo IS a California, USA based site... I note there ARE international versions of "Y! Answers" listed at the bottom of the page... I'll have to check that out after answering this.

I WILL agree with others who've answered stating that the USA is in the midst of two wars, elections, and negotiations with a nuclear-armed lunatic... we have a few things to say.

I note a NUMBER of questions coming from our Northern Neighbors, Brits, and Aussies... Guess that's because it's an english-language site?

And BEST the questions from other fools posing a Saddam, or Osama, or Fidel, or Hugo, or Kim... in America they're called liberals who haven't finished their therapy yet

Just guessing here, but I would think it is because we love and miss our troops desperately, and this is after all, Yahoo. With elections coming up, maybe people want to vent about that.
