T6, refers to how the aluminum was treated. T6 is solution heat treated and then artificially aged.

It is a temper designation for a particular alloy. From the web page cited:

"Solution heat-treated and then artificially aged. Applies to alloys which are not cold worked after solution heat-treatment, or in which the effect of cold work in flattening or straightening may not be significant in mechanical property limits. T62 indicates material is solution heat-treated from the O or F temper to demonstrate response to heat-treatment, and artificially aged."
