Am I allowed to carry on or pack wine to bring home to NJ?

My parents were in CA last weekend and took about 12 bottles back in their checked suitcases. They wrapped them in paper bags, clothes (only the ones they could afford to lose in case something broke), and packed the edges with cardboard and everything got home fine.

You are not allowed to carry wine as a carry on. But you can pack it in your check baggage. I recently brought wine back from CA. The only wine that you are allowed to carry on planes has to be purchased in the secure area and this is usually on in duty free shops, which normally require an international ticket.

Another option is shipping the wine home through the Post Office or UPS.

Not now. You can not have these kind of bottles in a plane nowadays.
