If you are still considering oral piercing you need to realize that serious risks are involved. According to the American Dental Association's Council on Scientific Affairs. "The piercing of oral structures presents risks of infection because of vast amounts of bacteria in the mouth and may cause airway obstruction because of swelling."
The tongue is packed with muscles, has four types of taste buds, and is capable of more feeling than any other part of the body! Being a muscle it bleeds when punctured which creates the risk of blood clots that could produce life-threatening strokes. The tongue is in constant motion, which slows and complicates the healing process. Swelling of the tongue after piercing is common.
Some other complications from oral piercings include aspirated jewelry, broken teeth, blood poisoning, keloid scars, nerve damage, numbness at the site of the piercing, prolonged or permanent drooling, a damaged sense of taste, and toxic shock. And that's not all. Other problems include speech impairment, nerve damage, eating difficulties and metal allergies and, as we said before, BAD BREATH. This is attractive??? I don't think so.
In addition, the National Institutes of Health has identified piercing as a possible vehicle for bloodborne hepatitis transmission. So, if you still plan on getting pierced be very careful who you have do the piercing. Are the tools, needles, jewelry, and the hands of the person doing the piercing sterile? If not, you could be putting yourself at great risk.
All in all, maybe you want to think twice before getting your tongue, lips, and/or cheeks pierced. You look pretty good just the way you are!!

The only piercings i've had are my ears. That hurt badly enough for a couple days. I won't lie and tell you it won't hurt, because it probably will. I would think it over before you do it. I can't imagine anyone wanting to pierce their tongue. I can think all sorts of awful things, like infection, having a permanent hole in your tongue, swelling, pain, scarring and losing the sense of taste. And what for? It looks ridiculous and doesn't make you look cool. And wait till you grow up and try to get into a college or get a job. They won't be impressed one bit with an earring sticking out of your tongue. Don't do it, girl!

I wouldn't recommend you getting if since you are under 18, just my own 2 cents.
But if you are gonna get it done, make sure you go to someone who knows what they are doing, don't try to do it yourself because you can miss and do permanent damage and get a nasty infection. I've had mine done at least 6 times due to my own stupidity of taking it out for too long and the bottom hole closes ---- no it doesn't hurt! The worst part is rinsing with the listerine for a full minute and the clamp that they use to pull out your tongue. Afterwards, just make sure that you rinse well after meals, don't play with it, use glyoxide when brushing to prevent infection. Suck on some ice chips and take some tylenol, you'll be fine! Just be careful, piercings can get really infected if you aren't responsible enough to take care of them.

When i got my tounge pierced i passed out! but the guy said it was because of a lack of sugar in my system or something? But it didn't hurt at all! just like any othr piercing .Of course it will be sore and uncomfortable for a while but other than that it's not like horribly painful.
Oh yeah- don't get it done if you have a presentation at school or something because more than likely it will be hard to talk for a few days.

It does hurt and worse than that, it can cause splitting of the tongue later on. That's what the medical journals are reporting. Who wants a forked tongue like a snake? My advice, don't do it. Let your friends be the snakes. You'll regret it later on in life.

Your nuts, there are more important things in life then getting a needle stuck through your tongue just so others will think you're cool.
