It's hard to say why Ed Gein did what he did. His mom may have contributed to his mental makeup, but crimes can't be blamed upon one's family, but only upon the individual himself.

The problem with sex ed is that parents leave it up to the teachers. the stuff they learn from the teachers should be supplemented by "the talk" from the parents. I went through it in Jr High and it went over mostly stuff I already knew but there were a couple of new things in there. Sex Ed has absolutely no effect on whether or not kids will have sex. The point of the program is to help those kids that are going to do it anyways to do it as safely as possible. Even here on answers ever third question is from some little girl that messed around with a boy and doesnt know if she can get pregnant from it. Sex Ed would help those girls do what they want to do as safely as possible.

Edward Theodore Gein (August 27, 1906 – July 26, 1984), was one of the most notorious murderers in U.S. history. The particularly bizarre and morbid nature of his crimes shocked the world, even though it may never be known if he committed more than two murders. Besides the death of his brother in 1944 under mysterious circumstances, six people disappeared from the Wisconsin towns of La Crosse and Plainfield between 1947 and 1957. Gein was conclusively linked to only two, though it is suspected there were more.

What do you think of Ed Gein?

He was from Wisconsin, right? Norweigen bachelor farmer, right? Supposedly the basis of Psycho and Deranged, right? Killed local women and wore their skins around the house, right? A bad influence on a generation, right?

LIFE magazine had several pages on him back in '57. That was way way out there material for this pre-Saw, pre-Texas Chainsaw, Eisenhower era audience. Mind-boggling in those terms alone.

Ed Gein.

However twisted his mother was, I think dancing round the ole homestead draped in the body parts of people you have dug up is just taking it too far.
