My sisters are twins and they are starting to attend many bat mitzvahs. When i was younger i received either $36 or $50 from all of my friends at my bat mitzvah and my mom gave out the same amount to my friends. Now my sisters are starting to go to bat mitzvahs except my mom is having trouble because there are two of them. When they attend these bat mitvzahs how much should they give? Give as if it were two seperate children is a lot of money!

P.S. my sisters bat mitzvah isn't for another year so my mom can't give out presents based on how much they received from the person because there bat mitzvah is last.

Here is your dilemma, there are two of the girls, sisters, so when they attend a bat mitzvah, they eat and enjoy themselves as two, not as one. I would suggest, since mom is not comfortable giving double the amount of money, perhaps, compromise, and give 3/4 the amount, in other words, with two going, instead of giving $50.00, give $75.00, or as your example, instead of $36.00, give $54.00. This is what I would do. When the girls have their bat mitzvah, they are going to get equal amounts of money, so keep that in mind. Someone is not going to give one $50.00, the other $30.00.

YOU ARE QUITE RIGHT,THE BEST YOU CAN GIVE AT BAT-MITZVAHS IS A GIFT CERTIFICATE,AS YOUR SISTERS HAVE NOT HAD THEIRS YET.OR YOU CAN BUY A BOOK ON GROWING UP JEWISH.IT GIVES LOTS OF DATA ON WOMENHOOD AND TEACHES THEM THE QUESTIONS MOST MOMS TRY TO AVOID,LIKE ME AT MY DAUGHTERS BAT-MITZVA I GAVE HER A BOOK AND A BIG PARTY AT HOME PLUS ALL THE MONEY SHE RECIEVED FROM FAMILY AND FRIENDS,I DID NOT GO OVERBOARD WHEN IT CAME TO MONEY,AS SHE IS A SPEND DRIFT.GOOD LUCK,FROM MIKHAL IN ISRAEL.
