Between MADD, CDC, American Lung Association, and darn near any other organization you can name (including the AMA and the AARP), give 'em enough money and enough strength and they will try to change the world to fit their skewed idea of right and wrong. I'm not an alcoholic, I don't go to the meetings! I'm just a good, old fashioned DRUNK! (According to all the above groups mentioned and more, I'm sure.)

Binge drinking would be if you drank all five of those drinks during, say, the course of an hour or two.

Binge drinking is when you may not drink for days and then suddenly you have several drinks within a few hours. A binge drinker is not necessarily an alcoholic:

Binge drinking is dangerous because you can get alcohol poisoning and/or be injured when you are in a stupor from the alcohol.

Been there done that during college and I quit drinking forever except a a few sips or wine once a year or so.

binge drinking 5 drinks /weeks???Less than 1 a day??? Something doesn't add up here. A glass of wine at dinner amkes a person a binge drinker? Does anyone else think this is strange?

A bing drinker is ALSO considered an alcoholic,the diffrence is that one drinks every day the other drinks once in awhile but when they do they get drunk!! I didn't think I was an alcoholic untill I heard the facts And now you too know .However if you have a few drinks (2-3) once a week it's social unless you HAVE to drink once a week alcoholisum can be a difficult conversation get the facts.

I would consider MADD, MAD as in insane. I have more than 5 beers a day and I am not on a binge. They are probably all babtists. I live in an Irish community, MADD would get run out of town here, and we are all Catholics and even the good Father bends an elbow more than five times a week.

Current medical advise:
Binge drinking is drinking five beers/wines (or more) in one go, and as result becoming drunk. This is particularly bad for you because at these levels alcohol starts to damage your body. Your judgment also becomes impaired so your more likely to have an accident, become violent and have unsafe sex. Your weekly limit should not exceed 10.5 beers/wines per week.

Having said that doctors are the most likely people to be alcoholics!

As for for social engineering (lol), I must admit that I normally have a damn good time once the first five have started to work their magic!

Personally, I find that only drinking alcohol when I'm out (restaurant/pub/club) helps to keep the units down. I also stop drinking straight away if I begin to feel sick or things are started to become a bit blurry. I also find that switching from beers to soft drinks after midnight stops me getting too drunk and leaves me feeling a lot better in the morning!
