The society is seen as an entity, a living organism in which humans are the components. If one human decides to live alone he also accepts the detachment from that society. No man can live alone because the society is the vital function of humanity, without the society we wouldn't have such things as ethics and morality(amongst others). A piece cannot be higher than the whole right? This is the case here: a man cannot be better alone than as part of the society. And to be one of the best is each man's goal I presume. I could tell u much more but I dont have time. Start with what I gave u so far. And don't forget: vote for the best answer!

If someone doesn't have someone else to hold on to, he is destined to spend forever in an eternal lonesomeness. If the person cannot connect with the world enough to not be alone, how can he interact with a society as a whole, without love, someone will eventually perish.

Humans are not meant to live in isolation (alone) When we try to live that way, we become progressively alienated from the rest of humanity, or simply, The more we keep to ourselves, the less able we are to be able to be around other people.

Well.. he's saying that man cannot live alone because it wll cut him off from society. As to why it's true, now you have the meaning you might want to have your own opinions on the subject rather than mine :)

the soul of the human was not created as a single entity.
it is a part of the greater whole, God, Allah, Buddha, Universe - whatever you call it.
as part of the human experience we need to be part of the greater whole - society - to stay in step with the souls need and desire to continue to be part of its greater whole - Universe -
When I am in communion with you I am in Communion with It.
if I choose to isolate from you then I isolate from It.

pretty much its saying we cant be alone in this life. we arent meant to be alone. the more and more we go without companionship or friends the more we will just dwell in our houses only going out when we have to.
