I found a hard round lump right by my right ear, below it actually and its next to my neck. Its round and hard- and the doc said he is doing a cat scan on it this week. Anyone know what it could be? A cyst?

Could just be a swollen lymph node.

They're round and hard, about the size of a marble or larger when they're inflammed.

You have lymph nodes on both sides, but it's possible that just one could be swollen. I had that happen to me, and it went away after a week.

I have a lump in my neck. it's about three inches below the back of my ear. I've had it since I was 6 doctor told me it was a cyst...benign tumor. my father in law actually has a big lump on his neck almost the same spot (a little higher then mine) has had it for several years now, he was told the same thing, it's a cyst.

I had one simular many years ago under my left rib cage. I later had it removed as it was growing. To make a long story hsort it was called a "lypoma" which was benigh but was growing into my muscle tissue. I have been told that most cancer lumps are palable (soft). Since the one is hard I hope this will end some worries, as I know you are worried.

it could be many things, but this is a common area for lymph nodes to be clustered. lymph nodes can be enlarged for reasons that range from fairly benign, such as infection or inflammation, or more serious, such as cancer. it is probably best to wait until you have the cat scan results to worry. of course that is easier said than done.
