I didn't myself - you dont realise what a control freak you are until it comes to your wedding. I wanted to be in charge of every little deal because I didn't trust else as much as myself to get what I want. I'm a very strong minded person and know my own mind so was best left in charge.
I loved every minute of planning my wedding, it's part of the fun of getting married - I'd do it over again in a heartbeat.

The wedding business is huge! After my wedding, I was truly wish I hired a wedding planner. I too was interested in becoming a planner. You will be extremely surprised how demanding that profession truly is. If you are going to become a wedding planner I would focus on planning the whole thing. This was you could plan other events as well! People who attend the wedding you planned see the kind of work you do and will want you for their own events! Now a days people will hire someone to do it all. They will give you a list of what they want and you will do the rest!

Best of luck to you!!

Yeah, it's a great business. And those who use wedding planners, can afford wedding planners, so it's a pretty well paid profession to boot! Just remember the golden rule - a wedding is a ONCE IN A LIFETIME experience. You will be 100% responsible for making this woman's dreams come true. Be sure you treat your clients with the utmost respect and kindness.

If your clients fall into the rest of the population decide that a wedding is TWICE IN A LIFETIME experience...you never know, you could end up with a whole slew of repeat clients! :o)

Good Luck!

Yes, every woman in my family has used a wedding planner and we are not rich. The planner gets to handle all the business while the bride gets to enjoy the moment. I know what I want and like, so the planner will just help decorate and organize. For example helping with the rehearsal.

most brides I know do not use one. I provide wedding supplies and they prefer to spend their money and time for gowns and other wedding supplies rather than hiring wedding planner. Unless they can afford to hire wedding planner, most brides are capable to plan their own. after all they used to plan the wedding in a year or so anyway. Even if they do hire wedding planner, the worries are still there because mistakes happen no matter who makes them. Most of them only have 20 - 35 thousands in budget, so maybe a rich bride can afford wedding planner if you can find one with bigger budget.

Most definitely! What a great career! Women love planning weddings but unfortunately only get to plan their own and they're too close to the situation and end up getting all emotional and stressed and not enjoying it for the great time it should be.

All women should get a wedding planner to take over and let you sit back and enjoy the ride. The bride still gets her say and has the wedding she wants but she also gets to avoid the time consuming details when all she really needs is a few weekends with girlfriends, drinking cocktails in the sun and farewelling single life in style! Stress free ;)

DEFINITELY.
we got married in march and only gave ourselves 3 months to organise things, thinking there wasn't much to do as we were doing everything in one place (ceremony and party in hotel), until i was lookng for someone to make my cake and do the flowers, i ended up on a local girls website who was a wedding planner and asked her to make my cake and she ended up becoming my wedding planner!
we had arranged most things until she started asking me what i had done about the decorations, and then the list became endless on what we needed to do.
the first thing she asked me to do was think of my dream wedding, i told her what it was and on my wedding day i walked into my dream wedding! the website is the www.thedream weddingcompany.com
she didn't charge for what she did, just what i hired from her. she took all the stress and worry away from us, which included a counsellor come shoulder to cry on! we are by no means made of money and didn't even think of hiring a wedding planner. (only because it is thought of as an american idea or for rich people! But it is now becoming much more popular now.
i know now that i would not have had my dream wedding without her and it did not cost any more than doing it ourselves. she stayed the whole day and sorted out any problems that occured. (without telling us!)
i would recomend anyone to get one and wish you good luck in your new venture.

I think I would have used a wedding assistant (is there such a thing?), rather than a planner. Someone who has the know how and etiquette and can offer advice and maybe run errands while I was at work, but I actually enjoyed planning our wedding. A bit of moral support from someone who was interested would have been nice (ie not the groom!)!

Since I was engaged to my husband, I quite my job because my husband makes a very good living to support both of us. I planned my whole wedding myself. I think that if both people have full time careers than I would assume they would need a wedding planner.

I got married for the third time this year. Would not have considered using a wedding planner but might have done if i had oodles of money and wanted an amazingly complicated affair. I think there IS a demand for the service where people have money.
