Look up the history of Corn - which was created in Mexico. Did you know it started out as just a grass and that it took hundreds of years of crossbreeding from the indians to turn it into a crop? Look up the history of chocolate. Did you know that the Azetecs used to mix it with chili peppers? (Hey - each to their own - I'd rather have chococlate mixed with milk and sugar - but if people want peppers - all the more power to them!) Look up the indrediants to chicken mole. The mole sauce is made with chocolate and peanuts. So no - it was not reeses who first put peanut butter in chocolate!

Mexico is a country with food is as diverse as the people. Many people relegate Mexican food to what is served at Taco Bell, but there is so very much more. Try this site: http://www.differentworld.com/mexico/common/pages/food.htm or this one: http://www.mexconnect.com/mex_/recipes/indabout.html
The different provinces all have a special flair just like the USA very influenced by the travelers and cultural development. Festivals and holidays may be religious or historical and food influenced by french, Indian, Native American, Spanish, etc. Hope this helps!

You could write about all the different kinds of chili peppers and how they're used.

Or you can talk about foods like Menudo, and how it's a custom to eat in on Sundays (google it).

Here is a link to a history of Mexican food. To copy, to republish, to post on servers, or to redistribute to lists, requires prior specific permission and/or a fee. So don't copy it verbatim. Rather, take from it the facts and information that you need to write your letter.
