I want to go to college. But my mom is being a p.i.t.a! She won't do anything for me

Just tell the college financial aid office that your parents are refusing to give you the information. They may be able to get it for you.

And don't listen to the jerks who tell you get a job or research scholarships. You should do those things too, but you will need your parents information to complete the fafsa. They just don't understand the process.

I'm sorry your mom does not want to participate in the process with you. Perhaps she is terrified of the possibility of being responsible for a huge debt if you should be unable to pay it for some reason. While it is unfortunate, you can't change her decision.

The first thing I would do is call the financial aid office of the school I was interested in. Find out the processes you would need to take to qualify on your own. The people in my school's office were amazing, and they have so much knowledge in the field. If loans are out of the question, there are some other options. You could start at a less expensive junior college where you could work and make the tuition payments. It might not be what you had in mind, but sometimes life throws us a curveball. If you don't have any scholarship opportunties now, after two years of success at a junior college, there might be even more.

Just don't give up. Call that office and get their advice. Consider some options that you wouldn't have before.

It's worth it in the end. :)

I wish you had posted more imformation. Do you stil live with your mother, your age, why you need the information. Basically be honest with whoever you need to be that your mother is not willing to give you the imformation and go from there. Believe that it will all work out in the long run. Sometimes a mother doesn't always accept the decisions that we make but you must remember that is her problem not yours. I hope you are trying to better your life and wish you the best of luck.

You're mom's tax info is her private stuff, not your's. If you really want to go to college, get a part time job and start saving. Do some research on scholarships and show her that you are serious about it. Get the financial aid info and ask her to fill it out if she doesn't want you to know what she makes. The ball is in your court, not hers. It's your life. If you're old enough to want to go to college, you are old enough to do the leg work.

If you want to show financial resposibility and she is not willing to help then she is trying to help you learn it on your own. There are thousands of grants and working scholarships out there to help you and if you think you can handle a full college load and be resposible then do it yoursel and start by being self reliant and learn to depend on yourself and not others.
