I have this pain in my left side, right around the bottom of the rib cage. It is recurring for months now. Been to doctor, (health department doc, not a good one, but all i can afford) and been to ER numerous times when pain gets really bad. They never do the proper tests because I'm uninsured. Something's going on and it is not normal. I know something is wrong, nobody has this kind of pain for no reason.
Can u give me some ideas as to what it may be so I can tell the doctor what to look for?

I'm in the same boat as you. I have pain in the left side but it is about belly button height. It can be so severe that you think you are going to die without urgent treatment.

I have ruled out several things so I'll give you what I have so far.

Do nuts and small (sesame seeds) cause increased pain? If yes, it is most likely diverticulitis. The basic treatment is to avoid those types of foods. It's basically little pockets in your large intestine that get clogged by them and the pressure causes pain.

It could also be IBS (irritable bowel syndrome). No way to easily diagnose but they have meds they can give you and if it goes away, bingo! You know that was it.

It could also be Crohn's Disease. I included a link to that.

Do you have alternating constipation and diarrhea?

You can write me and I can help you find out which your symptoms best fit.

If all tests seem normal then ask him to check for abdominal wall pain. This is a tricky little problem that often goes undiagnosed as there is very little written about it. Check out some sites on the web and perhaps you will recognize some of your other symptoms as well. I don't know whether you have been checked for Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Those are the two problems that you might encounter in this area of your abdomen. There is really nothing there but stomach and bowels. Try using an analgesic and heat on the area next time and if this works then it is probably the abdominal wall pain. Good luck to you.

Doctors and emergency rooms have to treat you like any other patient, whether you have insurance or not. If you really think you are being discriminated against because of a lack of insurance, contact an attorney. Most communities have legal aide that provides legal assistance to those who can't afford an attorney. I'm not sure what is causing your pain, but don't give up on finding out what it is. It sounds like you are going to have to get tough. Also, please try to find a way to get health insurance, as you are finding out now, it's so very important. I was uninsured for a few months once and worried about it constantly.

If you're having chest discomfort that hurts while you're nervous it's most of the time the nervousness that's inflicting it. I wore a center track and stored a diary and while I had the discomfort I wrote down the time it mentioned at the track and the medical professionals checked out it and mentioned it used to be simply the nervousness that brought on the chest discomfort. I am certain you realize that nervousness and despair is intertwined. If you're involved you must touch your health practitioner despite the fact that. I am simply telling you my reviews. I am now not a health practitioner.

It could be anything from a kidney stone to gas which could include nerve pain and possible diverticulitis.

In any case, you should demand an explanation from your medical provider, and don't rely too heavily on this board full of laymen and amateurs such as myself.

Cheers!

Have you been X-Rayed? this is what you need for kidney stones or you could have a twisted intestine but, you'll need a lower GI tract for that. Of course it takes money but, it's better than a funeral bill.
