What an awesome name. My 43 yr old brother's name is Layne. I was born Sept. 30th and he was born 2 years later on Sept. 27th. I thought he was my birthday present. I haven't seen that name spelled that way ever. And if the baby just happens to be a girl you could name her Laine. My brother has been in the Air Force for about 23 years, married to the same wife and has two great kids. So it could all be in the name, you never know. LOL Congratulations and good luck on finding the perfect name for your child.

The name itself isnt bad. However I do not like the spelling with the "y" I think it makes it too feminine

My nephew's name is Lane. I always thought it was cute. So yeah, you should name him that. It isn't too different.
