My friend is an exotic fruit ranch manager and gives me free fruit. He lives a very simple lifestyle and won't accept money. What's a useful gift?

something hand made by you , it really does not matter what (perhaps something made from his fruits, pie or such) and he will greatly appreciate it because it came from the heart, this is the highest compliment and sentimant you gan give a minimalist.

You could use the fruit to make him preserves or a pie, bake him some homemade egg bread or invite him to a brunch of fresh cheeses and wine or juice depending on if you drink or not. If he likes to read a classic western novel could be a good choice or how about something related to a hobby he may have-like a leather or carving knife. An exotic fruit bearing cactus might also be a clever thank you as it benefits you both. If all else fails a heart felt note of thanks is always appreciated. Hope this helps!

A gift card for a restaurant or hardware store? Or maybe a cookbook? I had a friend like this in college who hated material possessions. Very hard to shop for.
