The difference is WHY you are praying, and HOW you are praying!! Read Matthew chapter 6, where Jesus gives his followers a prayer to model their own prayers after... he tells us what is first in importance to pray for, and then the next most important, etc. So if we are praying in line with Jehovah's plan, it will NEVER be begging!

Some prayers are begging (petitions), some are for worship and adoration of God, some are in thanksgivings.

Wishes are hopes not acted upon. Pray is the action of Hope.

The target you're aiming for!
Prayer is focused towards G-d, while begging is focused towards humans.
Prayer is not simply asking G-d for stuff; it involves knowing & standing on the Scripture versus that support your petition...much like a lawyer does in court. He finds the already established precendent & brings it to the Judges' attention. Same with prayer.

Reminds me of the song in "The Meaning of Life"

Oh Lord Please Don't Burn Us
O Lord, please don't burn us.
Don't grill or toast Your flock.
Don't put us on the barbecue
Or simmer us in stock.
Don't braise or bake or boil us
Or stir-fry us in a wok.
Oh, please don't lightly poach us
Or baste us with hot fat.
Don't fricassee or roast us
Or boil us in a vat,
And please don't stick Thy servants, Lord,
In a Rotissomat.
