On average it seems to cost £20-£25 an hour with a discount if you block book say 10 or 20 lessons. I have found a great teacher though from a local company, and between block booking and being a student I have managed to pay about £17.50 an hour. Try Yellow school of motoring based in East London.

I paid £150 for 10 lessons or 17 pounds per lesson with a local self employed driving instructor. Ask around your friends to see who they learnt with- I found out about my driving instructor through a friend and I passed 1st time! BSM and AA are costly, and if you find a self employed driving instructor 9 times out of 10 they used to work for BSM so you're getting quality and value

£20 - £22 per hour.....however try to get a friend to recommend an instructor, you want quality instruction not cheap instruction and with a fully qualified instructor. Find out what cars are used for teaching, pass rates, lessons on a one to one basis, where lessons can start and end, progress reports, help with theory, etc.

between 18 and 20 per hour. try and go for someone who does 1 1/2 hour lessons, by the time you get into the lesson if it is only an hour long it is time to go home! good luck

Your best bet would be to phone around. The AA and RAC are about £25 a lesson.
Personally,i would stick with these.Any one offering lessons under £20,i would be very dubious.

if your in London will be more expensive.
if you use BSM or AA or one of the other big companies it will also be more expensive.
use a local independent company for value, and make sure the lesson is a full hour, rather than 50 minutes.
good luck!
