this will work for any state to look for an inmate. You will go to the department of corrections... so you can google texas department of corrections and it will give you a link to the different correctional institutions that you're looking for. don't go for the city because it will be harder to find. if you do texas it will have everything under one umbrella. And then through that certain correctional facility it will have the jail you're looking for and then you'll click on inmate search and you can check. Depending on when they booked him his info may not be posted yet, and I don't know how long it takes, but if you don't see it on there you'll probably have to call up there because they have to tell you if they've been incarcerated.

Even if you call a jail they will not always tell you the truth weither that person is there or not (I work at a jail). Your best bet would be to look on the internet. Look for the name of the jail and they should have a web site that has a button to search for inmates.

most jails have their roster posted on the internet for use by other agencies so sometimes access is limited and sometimes you just have to know where to look.
everyone here has good suggestions.
another way to find out is to call a bond company in the county where your friend may have been arrested, they can call the jail, find out if your friend is in a jail, what they are in jail for and if he/she is bondable (able to be released on a bond). this service is free because the bond company wants your business. to find the name/number of a bond company google bond association or texas bond association. all bond agents have to be approved by the bail bond board and all bond companies have to be listed with the association.
if you are looking for a jail in the panhandle of tx, or near the panhandle, call central bail bonds.....806-372-1293.......they have offices all over the state and connections to other bond agents in the state. they also can do bonds nationwide..........they will search for your friend for free.

Go to http://www.tdcj.state.tx.us/offender_information.htm#General and click on "Online Offender Search". This will show you the TDCJ number, Offender location, Offense of Conviction, Incarceration history, Current incarceration info, and Projected Release Date of everyone in their system. If your friend has been incarcerated you will be able to find out here.

Go to the county website. There should be something you can click on to look at the criminal records.
