There is an old phrase that nothing smaller than your elbow should be put into your ear!!
If you can't see the cotton stick then don't go fishing for it. Get an ear nose throat surgeon to fish it out. If you don't you are just waiting for an ear infection

make an appt with your family dr or go to the nearest urgent care or emergency room.
the ear canal is only 2 inches in length and the further you push a foreign object into it-the higher your risk of injuring the actual eardrum becomes.
do not attempt to flush it out with any liquids either b/c you could trap the liquid behind the cotton inside your eardrum which creates the perfect breeding environment for germs that can cause infection.
the dr will be able to safely remove the cotton and it will only take him about 2 minutes and he can also check to make sure you don't already have an infection

You need to just go to your doctor. They have a special tool that gets things out of the ear canals. I am sitting here laughing because I had this happen once before, but luckily it was still far enough up for my tweezers to get it.I hope you get it out.

you really need to go to a doctor and get this out, as it could become infected, DON'T try yourself as the ear canal is curved and every time you put your finger or something else in to it your actually hitting the wall of your ear, causing it to bruise and easy to infect

Take a bath put your ears under water let them fill up with water and then drain it out, repeat till its out.
another idea I would only try in an emergency would be to hold a vaccuum hose near my ear to try and suck it out
good luck
