Yes they will, it will take time , let the two cat's be around each other , but keep a close eye on them , if they start fighting each other , keep a spray bottle in handy , squrit them and say no. They will know that is wrong to do and they will get along . It will take months and maybe a year . But they will like each other at the end . Enjoy your new cat. I have a old female cat and a new kitten , they took months to get along . But they get along now.

There is no real way to tell. I find that a male/female combo is usually best if they didn't grow up together. Bringing a male into a home where there is already another male is usually worse. And females are usually "catty" (hee hee) with eachother. Give em time and they will be ok. Keep a close eye on them until your sure. Also, are you sure this wasn't someone's cat around your mom's? I would check the paper or local police department to make sure since they cat is already spayed.

Having your male neutered will help a lot. Other than that, most cats will learn to at least tolerate each other. If they're hissing and swatting, that's normal. Cats are very territorial (females are nearly as bad as males) and they will test each other to determine boundaries and establish a pecking order (see which cat is alpha). Your male will most likely end up with dominant cat status unless the female is older.

As long as they're not fighting to hurt each other (and you'll know if that's what they're doing by the screeches, growls, and blood, lol), then it's best to just stay out of it and let them work things out on their own.

With my experience in the past, they will start to get along. Maybe not cuddly pals but they will tolerate one another. It may not seem like it now but it will happen. The male cat is just protecting his domain and once he's figured out that this cat is not a threat then he will back off. Promise.

At first, in case they aren't comfortable with eachother, put them in two seperate areas divided up by a baby-proof/doggie door. Then they can sniff eachother, but not attack. Keep these meetings no longer than an hour. After a few of these, have you and someone else watch both of the animals in the same room in case one starts to attack.

Is your male cat fixed as well ? He should be if he isnt' already. Sometimes, even if both of the opposite sex are fixed, it will not work out. But that's a chance you take. Try giving them baths back to back...then they will smell the same......feed them together....etc, etc.....see what happens.

My 2 dogs and my cat get alongside nicely. We had the dogs first and then were given the kitten. in spite of the indisputable fact that, when we've doggie travellers the cat is going ballistic - if the customer is with us for per week she finally accepts the customer for that visit. in spite of the indisputable fact that, your case differs because the cat became there first. have you ever tried a puppy crate - placed the min-pin contained in the crate interior of view of the cat even as the cat eats and communicate over with the min-pin soothingly. even as she begins to chase the cat, tell her "NO" and placed her contained in the crate, then puppy the cat. After a lengthy time period she might want to get the message, yet you may want to be consistant. you should be able to restrain the dogs and nonetheless puppy the cat because the min-pin is a small dogs. by technique of petting them both jointly (you've 2 fingers) it really is going to also pass the message to the min-pin that the cat's area of the relations too. My daughter's buddy has a min-pin and it became high quality even as her toddler brother got here abode from the clinical institution. even as they were given a Golden Retriever puppy she had per week or so of the "snits" (snarling matches) yet finally were given over it and performed with the puppy. best of luck!

They'll get along in time. They're probably getting used to each other.

Most likely they will grow to like eachother, but at first they probably won't like each other to well or maybe they will hate eachother, but they won't kill eachother!
