HI. The better pet is the one that will make you happiest and fit best into your life!
Dogs- Only you know if you have the time and patience required to potty train a dog, Will you be patient when it occasionally pottys on the floor for the first 6 mo. as it grows up? Do you have the room and time for it to run, walk and play, and the smarts to buy it enough toys to keep it from chewing your favorite leather belt or shoes. Can you keep it on a leash when outside so it doesn't get hit?
Cats- They take care of themselves pretty much, but can you take the cat wanting to climb on you, sleep on your head, and purr incessantly in your hear? Can you deal with the possability that it will knead your back to stretch its legs? Can you trim it's claws so you don't have to be cruel and declaw which cuts off the bones? Can you maintain a litter box and keep it inside so it doesnt get hit?
Good luck! They both are wonderful.

They both make GREAT pets, but, raising animals, dogs are harder to take care of--------AT least it was for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cats kinda take cats "take care" of themselves, know what I mean? Lower "maintenance!"
Dogs are better in the sense they OBEY, if you like having a pet that's more demanding!
This, though is an individual choice!
You can ask 100 of us the same question and you will get 100 different answers of which pet "suits" our needs!
I LOVE all pets!!!
we have a bearded dragon, 3 cats, 2 pet rats and a Guinea Pig! These are LOW MAINTENANCE, but this is what I like!

I select a cat, I have by no means been triumphant with a puppy considering the fact that of the scent they produce and the dust monitoring out and in each time they ought to cross potty, they're clumsy and can not be left at house for lengthy durations of time. A cat is blank, smells fine and makes use of the toilet in doorways, very swish as good, may also be left house for lengthy durations of time.

It's up to you, my friend. Which do you prefer?
I like cats, but then again, I am the eccentric painter woman in my community. Cats are easy to care for, independent (mostly), and very sensual creatures. I find that men who like cats tend to be more in touch with their inner feline... stroke me, let me stroke you... etc. (I only have one.... I'm not ready for the Crazy Cat Lady moniker)
Dogs are great creatures, but require a greater time investment in care. They also smell, and make your house smell.
Either way, remember that cats and dogs are living creatures... if you want a pet, it's not about how you come across to other people, it's about caring for and showing attention to that animal. What do you have time for in your life?
Best Wishes - Andrea

There is no "better" because they are totally different species. I prefer dogs because they are pack animals much like in a family. Cats tend to be loners and more aloof but I like cats too.

Cats, they smell less and you don't have to find someone to take care of them if you go on a trip. Also you don't have to let them out everytime they need to go the the bathroom. Plus they're more affectionate. And they too come when they're called and they are equally as smart, my cat can open doors. But if anything, I'd say lizards.

I'd rather have a cat. Dogs are too attention-starved and they make a mess of everything. Cats give affection selectively. Like me.
